General X-Ray

General X-Ray

X-ray is Bluegrass Radiology’s  front-line imaging modality for several diagnoses. To acquire radiographic images, a certain portion of the body is exposed to a low level of radiation to produce pictures inside the body. Examples include chest imaging to evaluate for pulmonary disease, imaging of the abdomen to evaluate for bowel obstruction or other pathology, and imaging of joints and bones to assess for fractures or dislocations. Fluoroscopy is the use of X-ray while ingesting oral contrast or having contrast injected into a body system to further assess for pathology. Major uses of fluoroscopy include evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract, joint imaging, and imaging of the spine and spinal canal.
